A barrage is a large number of things arriving very fast, one after another, often things you didn't want — 'a barrage of questions', 'a barrage of complaints', 'a barrage of criticism'. It gives a feeling of being , almost attacked, by how much is coming at once. The word actually started as a military term for continuous, heavy gunfire aimed at one area, and English speakers still use it that way too, but the everyday, non-military use (questions, criticism, insults) is probably what you'll meet most often.
