    A barnstormer is the person who travels from place to place, making short stops to give a show: a play, a political speech, or an aircraft flying display. The word is the , not the trip. In early flying history, barnstormers were the pilots who carried into the countryside, one dusty field at a time — landing, drawing a crowd, selling a ride, then moving on. A politician who sleeps on a bus and speaks in a new town every night is a barnstormer too. The job is movement plus a short, loud performance, then on to the next place.
