Bang-up means very good. A bang-up job is work done really well; a bang-up time is a lovely time. It is friendly American English, and it sounds a bit old now — the kind of praise you might hear from an older speaker. When it sits in front of a noun, it usually keeps the little line: bang-up. Though actually, British English has a verb bang up that is not praise at all. There it can mean to crash a car, or to lock someone in prison. Same two pieces, different life. So if you read bang up without the little line, look at the rest of the sentence before you smile.
bang-up 是形容詞，表示很棒、非常好。它最常見的句型是「a bang-up ＿＿」，例如「a bang-up job」就是做得很好的工作，「a bang-up time」則是很愉快的時光。這是美式口語，聽起來有點老派，多半是年長的人會說的讚美。放在名詞前面時要保留連字號，寫成 bang-up。另外，英式英文有個動詞 bang up，意思完全不同，可以指撞車，也可以指把人關進牢裡，所以沒有連字號時，要看整句的脈絡。
