    Balefully is how someone does a thing when their face or voice is full of anger, hate, or a wish to hurt: they look balefully, stare balefully, speak balefully. It does not describe a person or a thing; it describes the manner. Like baleful, it belongs more to books than to the school corridor. Though actually, in speech people are more likely to say “she at him” than “she looked at him balefully” — same idea, simpler clothes.
