Bafflement is the feeling of being baffled: you cannot understand or explain something, and that stuck feeling has a name. The word is a little more formal than baffled. You might read to their bafflement in a story or a newspaper; in speech most people just say I don't understand or I'm baffled. It is built in a regular way, the same -ment ending you meet in or disappointment. The person is baffled; the feeling is bafflement.
