A B-movie is a film made with little money, and people often treat it as low quality: thin story, cheap sets, stiff acting. The name comes from old cinema programmes, which used to show two films. The main film was the A picture; the cheaper film that filled the rest of the afternoon was the B picture — the same idea as the B-side of a record, the second side, not the hit. Today there is usually no real A-picture / B-picture pairing, but the name stuck. People still use B-movie as a put-down. Though actually, many fans say it with a grin: they like the wild plots, the rubber monsters, the feeling that nobody had the money to be careful. A film can cost a lot and still feel like a B-movie if it is silly and rough; a cheap film can be loved for exactly that. Informal. You will hear it from film fans more than from serious reviews, unless the is being dry.
組成B as in the B-side of an old record (the second, less famous side; the main side was A) + movie. Named that way because these films used to play second, on a cheap budget.
