Automagically means a machine does something by itself, with no person making it work — used especially when you want to say what software can do without giving a technical explanation. It is a joking, slightly cute word from computer people: automatically, but as if by magic. You click once, and the backup, the sort, or the update “just happens”. It is informal. In a serious report or an exam, automatically is the safe word. People say it with a small smile, because everyone knows it is not real magic — it is code you cannot see.
