Aurally is the adverb of aural: in a way that uses the ears, or by hearing. If you learn aurally, you remember what you hear better than what you see on a page. A poem can be enjoyed aurally when someone reads it aloud. It is a rather stiff, classroom word. Most people would say by ear, by listening, or out loud instead. You still need it for careful writing about how we take in sound.
