An astrologer is someone who uses astrology to talk about a person's character, life, or future — from the positions of the stars and planets, and often from the time of birth. People visit an astrologer for a birth chart or for advice about love and work. In newspapers and apps, your astrologer may just mean the person who writes the star-sign column; though actually, people who take the work seriously often say that is only a thin, popular version, and a full reading is much longer. The word itself does not say whether you believe the astrologer is right. A scientist who studies the sky is an astronomer, not an astrologer — the two jobs sound close, but they are not the same.
