In the old Norse stories from the north of Europe, Asgard is the home of the gods. picture it as a realm above the world of people, with a wall around it and a rainbow bridge leading in. Warriors who died in battle were said to go there too — though actually the famous hall for those fighters is , and sits inside Asgard. Asgard is the whole god-home, not only that hall. Films and comics, especially Thor, borrowed the name, so many students meet it first as a shiny city on a screen. The old stories are messier than the films: the gods are not all kind, and Asgard can be attacked. Treat it as a place-name from myth, not a word for an ordinary town.
組成A learned borrowing from Old Norse Ásgarðr. Áss means a god; garðr means a yard or an enclosed place — so the name is built like “the gods’ enclosure.” Some people say the name Agartha might be a later twist on this, but that is only a maybe.
