If someone is articled to a firm of lawyers or accountants, they work there while they train for that job. In Britain this used to be the normal path: you signed “articles” — a contract — and became an articled clerk. You were an employee and a student at the same time. The word is British, formal, and a little old-fashioned now; many people say trainee solicitor or talk about a training contract instead. You will still see it in older books, in formal CVs, and in some accountancy talk. It does not mean the person writes articles for a newspaper, and it has nothing to do with an articulated truck.
