Armenia is a country in the high land of the , where Asia and Europe meet. Georgia lies to the north, to the east, Iran to the south, and Turkey to the west. It has no sea. The capital is . Only a few million people live there, so it is a small country. The English name is an old outsider's name, from Persian and then Greek and Latin. Though actually, Armenians have their own name for themselves and their land (Hay, Hayastan). You use Armenia for the place. A person from there, or the language, is Armenian, not Armenia. Students sometimes mix Armenia with Romania, or drop it into a blur called “the Middle East”; it sits in the , between the Black Sea and the Caspian, though it touches neither.
組成English took the name from Latin Armenia, from Ancient Greek Armenía, from Old Persian Armina. That Persian name is an outsider's name; Armenians call themselves Hay.
