Arboreal means relating to trees, or — the sense you will meet most — living in trees. Monkeys, sloths, and many frogs are arboreal: their whole life is up in the branches. Scientists like this word. Everyday people usually just say “they live in trees.” You can also use it more widely, of roots or a landscape where trees are the point, but it stays a quiet, adjective. It does not name a place, and it is not the garden shelter ( / arbor). Though actually, “relating to trees” is the wider meaning; in animal books, “tree-living” is almost always what the writer wants.
