An applicator is a special small tool — a brush, a sponge tip, a wand, or a nozzle — used to spread cream, liquid, glue, or medicine onto a surface. Lipstick, , ointment, hair dye, and glue often come with one. The word is a bit technical: the box and the instructions say applicator; in casual talk you might just say the brush or the little tip. Though actually, in very formal or medical writing, applicator can also mean a person who applies something. For most students, the tool in the packet is the meaning that matters.
