Applicability is whether a rule, idea, test, or law really fits a person, a group, or a situation — whether it affects them or is about them. If a safety rule has wide applicability, it covers many jobs; if it has little applicability to children, it is not really for them. This is a formal, heavy noun. You see it in school essays, science papers, and terms and conditions. In ordinary talk people almost never say it. They ask, Does this apply to me? Though actually, exam questions and official writing love this word, so still need it.
