Anti-personnel is a military adjective for weapons made to harm people, not to smash buildings or vehicles. The classic example is an anti-personnel mine: it lies in the ground and is built to wound or kill a person who steps on it, not to break a tank.
Anti-personnel是 a military adjective軍事形容詞, for說的是 made to harm people做來傷害「人」、 not to smash buildings or vehicles不是做來砸建築或車輛的 weapons武器。 The classic example最經典的例子 is an anti-personnel mine是反人員地雷: it它 lies in the ground躺在土裡, and is built to被造來 wound or kill打傷或打死 who steps on it踩到它的 a person人, not to break a tank不是造來破壞戰車。
You will almost only meet this word in news, history, and army talk. It is cold and technical on purpose — armies use tidy labels for ugly things.
You你 almost only幾乎只會 in news, history, and army talk在新聞、歷史和軍隊的談話裡 meet this word遇到這個字。 It它 on purpose是故意 cold and technical冷冰冰、技術性的 — armies軍隊 for ugly things替醜陋的東西 use tidy labels用整齊的標籤。
Though actually, the line is not always clean: some weapons can do both jobs, and reports still pick the label that names the main target. It is not a word for office life, and it is not a word you throw around about a strict teacher.
Though actually不過其實, the line那條線 is not always clean不是永遠乾淨: some weapons有些武器 can do both jobs兩種工作都做得了, and reports而報導 still仍會 pick挑 that names the main target點名主要目標的 the label那個標籤。 It它 is not不是 for office life辦公室生活用 a word的字, and也 is not不是 about a strict teacher拿來說嚴格老師時 you throw around隨口亂丟 a word的字。
