Anti-choice is a political label for people or laws that want to stop women from being able to have an abortion. It is not a calm, neutral word. People who support the right to abortion often say “anti-choice”; people who oppose abortion almost never call themselves that — they usually say “pro-life.” The other side says “pro-choice.” So the word already picks a team: it talks about the fight as “choice” versus “against choice,” not as “life” versus “not life.” You will see it in US and international debate, in newspapers and on signs. In Taiwan, public talk is more often about being for or against abortion, not this English pair. Use it knowing it is loaded, and knowing the people it names will not thank you for the name.
「anti-choice」是政治標籤，指想阻止女性墮胎的人或法律。它不是中性的字：支持墮胎權的一方常用它來稱呼對方。反對墮胎的一方幾乎不這樣稱自己，他們通常以「支持生命」為號召，另一方則以「支持選擇」為號召。因此，這個詞已經先選了立場，把爭論說成「選擇」對上「反對選擇」，而不是「生命」對上「非生命」。
在美國和國際辯論、報紙與看板上，都會見到它。台灣的公開討論則多半說支持或反對墮胎，不用這組對照。使用時要知道這個字帶有立場，被它稱呼的人通常不會因此感謝你。
