Anointment is the act of anointing — the ceremony of putting oil on someone — and sometimes the oil used in that setting. It is a rather old, church-and-history noun; many people now say anointing instead. You will see it in writing about kings, priests, and the sick, not in everyday speech about putting cream on a cut.
