1. 1

Animatronics is the way of making models of animals or people that can move, and of using those models so they seem alive. You meet it in films and in big park shows: a dinosaur turns its head, a pirate lifts a cup. Motors, air and computers sit inside a body that looks real. People also call one of the models “an animatronic”, though the first meaning is the method, not the doll. It is a film-and-park word, not a kitchen word. Disney made it famous with a protected name, Audio-Animatronics, for figures that moved and also made sound.
