To anglicize something is to make it more English — a name, a spelling, a custom, a street sign, even the way a person dresses or speaks after moving. Parents might anglicize a family name so teachers can say it; a menu might anglicize a dish so English speakers can order it. The word can be calm and practical, or a little sharp, if you feel the English form is covering over the original. British spelling often anglicise; both are the same verb. It is a grown-up, essay-level word, not a rude one. It does not mean 'translate into English': a book is translated; a name or a habit is anglicized.
