An Anglepoise is a lamp, usually for a desk, with a arm you can swing, lift, and twist so the light sits exactly where you want it. Springs in the arm keep the head still when you let go — that is the poise, the balance. It began as a British brand name, and in Britain people often stretch it to mean any lamp of this kind, the way a brand can become the everyday word for the thing. You will hear it most in British homes, offices, and design talk; American English more often says desk lamp or architect's lamp. It is a calm, household word, not slang. Though actually, not every lamp that tilts is an Anglepoise: the old name points to that spring-balanced arm, not to a cheap clip light or a gooseneck.
可調式檯燈(英國品牌 Anglepoise,後常作這類燈的通稱;台灣日常多半說「檯燈」或「工作燈」)
