Amiably means “in a friendly, easy-to-like way.” If someone smiles amiably, answers amiably, or chats amiably, they are being warm and pleasant as they do it. It tells you how a person acts, not what they are. Like amiable, it is a little formal; in casual speech people often say nicely or in a friendly way instead. It is not a word for being in love, and it is not quite the same as amicably: people who part amicably settle things peacefully; people who speak amiably sound kind while they talk.
