    AI is short for artificial intelligence: computer systems that do work we used to think only humans could do — answering questions, writing, drawing, translating, patterns. People say AI as a mass idea (“AI is changing ”) and also, more loosely, an AI for one or one tool. News, schools, and everyday talk all use it now; it can sound technical or completely ordinary depending on who is speaking. Though actually, a lot of what people call AI is pattern-matching over huge piles of examples, not a mind like yours. Say the letters: A-I.
