Agritourism is a holiday where you go to the countryside and spend time on or near a farm. You might sleep in a , pick fruit, feed animals, or eat food grown right there. It is travel built around farming, not a beach hotel in the city. The word is agri- + tourism. It may have been helped along by similar words in Italian and other European languages, such as Italian agriturismo, which may be older. In Taiwan this is a very familiar kind of weekend: people say they are going to a 休閒農場 — pick strawberries, eat barbecue, stay in a cabin next to the fields. Agritourism is the English label for that sort of trip. It is a travel-and-business word, a bit formal, but the activity itself is ordinary family fun.
農業觀光(台灣日常多說「去休閒農場」)
組成agri- (from agriculture / the farm) + tourism. Possibly influenced by Romance words such as Italian agriturismo, which may be attested earlier.
