    Aforementioned means “already named earlier in this same piece of writing.” A writer tells you about a rule, a person, or a thing, then later says “the aforementioned rule” instead of repeating the name. It is a paper word. You find it in contracts, school notices, and formal articles. In speech, people just say that one or the one I mentioned. Using it in a chat can sound too stiff, even a little funny — as if you are reading a law. In very formal writing it can also stand alone as a noun: “the aforementioned.” It does not mean famous. It only means “mentioned before.”
