Adroitness is skill that looks easy in the moment. A person with adroitness handles a hard situation well — most often with words: they pick the right sentence, they win an argument without shouting, they change the subject at the right time. You can also use it for skilful hands, but today people more often mean skilful talk and skilful social moves. It is a noun: we speak of someone's adroitness, not “he is adroitness” (that would be “he is adroit”). The word feels a little bookish. A teacher, a critic, or a news writer might use it; friends chatting probably say “she's so good with people” instead. It praises skill, not whether the person is good or bad — though actually, “political adroitness” can carry a slight warning: clever, yes, but maybe a bit slippery.
