Acreage is how much land you have, counted in acres. An acre is an old English measure — a piece of ground about the size of a sports field, a little more than 4,000 square metres. A farm with large acreage has many acres; small acreage means the piece of land is not very big. You hear the word from farmers, from people who buy and sell land, and in news about houses in the countryside, especially in the US and the UK. In a city, people rarely need it. Though actually, speakers often use it loosely to mean 'the size of the land' even when they are not doing careful maths. 'A house with a lot of acreage' just means fields or a big garden around it. The word names the amount, not one single acre. In Taiwan we do not measure everyday land in acres — homes use 坪, farms often use 公頃 — so this is a word for reading English about foreign land, not for describing your own flat.
