If someone is acquiescent, they are too ready to say yes, or to let things happen, without complaining and without putting their own wish on the table. It describes a person, or a manner. It is not a compliment. A kind teacher might say the student is gentle; this word says they give in too fast. It is formal, like the rest of this family. In everyday talk you would say they never speak up, or they just go along. Though actually, a quiet person is not always acquiescent. Quiet is about volume. Acquiescent is about not pushing back.
