1. 1

Aboriginal describes the people, animals, or plants that were the very first, original of a place, before others arrived from somewhere else. Written with a capital A, 'Aboriginal' is most often used as the respectful term for the native peoples of Australia (Aboriginal Australians). Written lowercase, 'aboriginal' can more generally mean 'from the very beginning' of any place, though this general use is less common today.
