Aberdeen is a port city in northeast Scotland, on the North Sea. For many years it was the big centre for North Sea oil: companies, ships, and workers went out from there to the oil fields. It is also an old granite city, grey in the light, with a university and a fishing past before the oil years.

組成The first part is from Pictish aber, “confluence” (where waters meet). The second part is the river Don, at Old Aberdeen. Written Aberdon around 1187 and Aberden around 1214. The Hong Kong town is named after George Hamilton-Gordon, 4th Earl of Aberdeen.
