Zumba is a kind of fitness class where you exercise by dancing, usually to Latin American music — salsa, merengue, cumbia, reggaeton. An instructor stands at the front and you copy the steps; nobody expects you to be a good dancer, and that is part of why it became popular with people who find the gym boring. It began in Colombia in the 1990s and spread worldwide in the 2000s, and in Taiwan you will see it on the class list at almost any gym, community centre or 社區活動中心.
it behaves as an uncountable noun: you do Zumba, you go to Zumba, you take a Zumba class. You cannot say 'a Zumba' or 'two Zumbas' — say 'a Zumba class' instead. It is also used before another noun: Zumba instructor, Zumba class, Zumba video.
One thing to know: Zumba is a registered trademark, and officially only licensed instructors can call their class that. In real speech people ignore this and use Zumba loosely for any dance-exercise class, the way people say 'Google it' for any web search. The word is usually written with a capital Z because it is a brand name, though you will see small z in casual writing.
組成An invented brand name, not a word built from meaningful pieces. The founder, Beto Pérez from Colombia, first wanted to call it rumba, after the Cuban music style, but that name was taken and would have confused people. So he and his business partner tried changing the first letter until one sounded right — they liked sumba, and he chose to spell it with a z because as a boy he loved the character Zorro.
