To yank something is to pull it hard and suddenly, in one quick movement. The suddenness is the whole point. If you pull a door, that could be slow and gentle; if you yank a door, it comes at you fast, and often there is a bit of temper or panic or hurry in it. You yank a weed out of the ground, yank your hand back from a hot pan, yank someone by the arm. It is also a noun: "give it a good yank". English likes to add a small word after it — yank it open, yank it out, yank it off, yank it away — and that little word tells you where the thing went. The word is informal but not rude; it is fine in speech, in stories, in ordinary writing, but a formal report would probably say "pulled sharply". People also stretch it: a company can yank an off television, a coach can yank a player out of the game — pulled out fast, with no gentle explanation. Note that a capital-Y Yank is a completely different word meaning an American, short for Yankee; the two are unrelated in meaning even though they look the same.
組成Origin unknown. It first shows up in writing around 1822, in Scots. Nobody has traced it further back, so its history is genuinely a blank.
