The form of 'who' used as the object of a verb or after a preposition, mostly in formal speech or writing.

You can think of whom as the 'receiving end' version of who. When a person is the one doing the action you use who; when the person is the one the action lands on, or the one that comes right after a small word like to / for / with, the formal form switches to whom.
