A weblog is a website where one person or a small group posts about whatever they care about — travel, cooking, , their daily life. The newest post sits at the top, and older posts stay below in date order. The key idea is that it belongs to a person, not to a newspaper or a company, so the voice is personal and you can usually leave comments.
The important thing to know is that almost nobody says 'weblog' anymore. Someone chopped the word in two as 'we blog', and the short form **blog** took over completely by about 2003. Today 'blog' is the ordinary word, and it works as a verb too (I blog, she blogged). 'Weblog' survives in old writing and in some technical settings.
One trap: in computer work, a 'web log' written as two words means something quite different — the file where a server records every visit to a site. Same letters, different world.
組成web (the World Wide Web) + log (a written record kept over time, like a ship's log). Later cut into 'we blog', which gave us blog.
