A webisode is one episode of a show made for, or released on, the Internet instead of on television. There are two common situations. First, a TV series makes short extra episodes that only appear online — small side stories, often a few minutes long, made to keep fans interested between seasons. Second, a whole series exists only online, and each part is called a webisode. The word joins 'web' and 'episode'. It carries a feeling of 'short and extra'. A webisode is usually much shorter than a real TV episode — three to ten minutes is normal — and often cheaper to make, with a smaller cast. Honestly, the word is . It was useful when TV and the Internet felt like two different places. Now that most people watch full-length drama on Netflix or YouTube, nobody calls those webisodes; they are just episodes. You will meet the word mainly in writing from about 1995 to 2015.
