"Wearisome" describes something that goes on and on until you are bored, tired, and slightly fed up with it. It is built from "weary" (very tired) plus "-some", an old ending meaning "causing this, full of this" — the same ending in "tiresome", "", "quarrelsome". The key ingredient is LENGTH. A wearisome journey is not dangerous, just far too long. A wearisome speech is not wrong, just endless. Wearisome things are usually harmless — the complaint is that they take your time and your patience and give nothing back. and tiredness arrive together, and behind them sits a small, dry . This word is formal and rather literary. You will meet it in novels, essays, journalism, translated classics, and church readings, far more than in conversation. If a friend in says "that meeting was so long", they will not say "wearisome" — they will say "boring" or "such a drag". Using it in casual chat sounds , which can be charming if you mean it to be and odd if you do not. Its everyday twin is "tiresome", which is much more common and leans more towards "" than "long". "Wearisome" leans towards "long" first, "" second. Compare with "wearing" (the adjective): "wearing" says it drains your energy; "wearisome" says it drains your patience and bores you. And note that people are usually "tiresome" rather than "wearisome" — "wearisome" fits tasks, journeys, speeches, arguments, and processes better than it fits a person.
冗長乏味的、令人厭煩的(重點在「太長」,聽了做了很久,又煩又累;書面語,口語幾乎只說 tiresome 或 boring)
組成weary(疲憊)+ -some(造成這種感覺的)。Middle English werisom。-some 這個字尾就是「會引起某種感覺」,跟 tiresome、troublesome 是同一組。
