To tell someone strongly to stay away from a place, a person, or a plan, because of danger or because you do not want them there. The person goes in the middle: 'warn him off', 'warn them off'. You can add what they must avoid: 'warn her off the deal', or 'warn people off buying it'. A little formal; common in news stories.
