A wallchart is a big sheet of paper with information on it that you put up on a wall so that everyone can see it and read it from a distance. Because it is made to be looked at, not read closely, the information on it is usually short and clear: pictures, big letters, a table, a map, a list. Classrooms are the most common place — a wallchart of the alphabet, of animals, of the parts of the body. But offices use them too, for a plan of the year or who is working which day, and newspapers used to give away a wallchart of all the World Cup matches so you could fill in the scores. It is written as one word most of the time, though you will also see "wall chart" as two words, and both are fine. British English uses it more than American English, where people are more likely to just say "chart" or "poster". A wallchart is not the same as a poster: a poster is mainly there to advertise something or to look nice, while a wallchart is there to give you facts.
