Describes something that is disappearing — going away completely, often slowly, until you cannot see or find it anymore. It's often used about things becoming rare, like a vanishing way of life or a vanishing species of animal. You may also meet the fixed phrases 'vanishing point' (the spot in a picture where lines seem to meet far away) and 'vanishing act' (a magic trick, or a joking way to say someone disappeared).
