Given or sent to you when you never asked for it. Solicit means to ask for something, so unsolicited marks the thing as arriving from the other side: unsolicited advice, unsolicited emails, an unsolicited job application, unsolicited photos. The word usually carries a shadow of — 'and I didn't want it either' — though it does not have to; a company can receive an unsolicited offer that turns out to be wonderful. It is a formal, written word: you meet it in email rules, company policies, legal notices and news reports much more than in speech. In everyday talk people just say 'I didn't ask for it' or 'nobody asked'. Two uses are worth knowing. First, unsolicited email is the standard polite name for spam. Second, unsolicited advice is a set phrase, often used with a smile before you give some anyway: 'Here's some unsolicited advice…'.
