    Uncovered has two common uses. It can describe something with no lid, cover, or protection on it — 'leave the pot uncovered so it cools faster,' or 'an uncovered wound should be cleaned.' It's also the past form of the verb 'uncover,' meaning to find out something that was hidden or secret — 'reporters uncovered the truth about the company.' In this second sense it's close to 'discovered,' but 'uncover' often carries a stronger feeling that someone was actively hiding the thing.
