Two-tone means made of two different colours, or made of two different sounds. It goes in front of a noun: a two-tone car, two-tone shoes, a two-tone paint job. The colour use is the common one, and it usually suggests the two colours were chosen on purpose as a design — a classic car with a cream roof and a red body, black-and-white shoes.
