Tush is a soft, playful word for your bottom — the part you sit on. It is the gentle version, the kind of word you use with small children, or joking with a close friend, or a doctor being friendly with a young patient. It sounds American, and it is: it came into American English from through New York, and it still feels warmer and more casual than the plain word 'bottom'. It is a noun, countable, and you can say 'a nice tush' or 'get your tush off the sofa'. It is not rude, but it is not neutral either — it is informal and a bit cute, so it would sound strange in writing for work or school. British speakers know it from American films more than from their own speech. (You may also meet an old, quite separate word 'tush' meaning an animal's long tooth, related to 'tusk', but that one is rare and old-fashioned; this entry is the body one.)
