A tunic is a simple piece of clothing that covers the body from the shoulders down to somewhere around the hips or knees, usually loose, with no sleeves or short sleeves, worn over other clothes like leggings or trousers. It's associated with ancient Greek and Roman clothing in history class, but the word is also used today for a type of long, loose top, or the top part of some school and military uniforms.
