    A trackie is a — the soft matching top and trousers you wear for sport or for lounging at home. The word is casual, friendly, and strongly British and Australian; Americans do not really say it. It is the kind of English does all the time to make a word sound relaxed. You will hear it in speech and in texts far more than in writing, and often in the plural for just the trousers: 'trackies' or 'trackie bottoms' or 'trackie bums'. Be aware it can carry a whiff of judgement in Britain, where 'in his trackies' can suggest someone who has not bothered to dress properly — though plenty of people say it with complete affection about their own comfortable clothes.
