A baby-talk word for toes, and sometimes for the whole foot. Adults use it when speaking to small children — "Let me wash your little tootsies" — or playfully to each other, often about cold feet in winter or bare feet on a beach. It is warm, silly, and always informal; the singular tootsie exists but people almost always say it in the plural, because toes come in a set. You would never see it in a doctor's report or any serious writing. Grown-ups also use it about their own feet in a joking, self-mocking way, the way you might say "my poor little feet".
