Tasting very good. It is a fancy, old-fashioned word for food that is rich and satisfying to eat — a plate of meat, a thick cake, something you really want to put in your mouth. You will mostly meet it in writing: food articles, restaurant reviews, novels, menus that are trying to sound special. Almost nobody says it out loud in normal talk; if you said "this soup is toothsome" to a friend, they would smile at you for sounding like a book. It carries a small feeling of hunger in it — not just "this is nice" but "this makes me want to bite". Though actually, there is a second use you should know about: some writers use "toothsome" about a person, meaning sexually attractive. That use is old, a bit playful, and can sound rude or dated depending on who is reading, so it is safer to recognise it than to use it.
