    Tomography is a way of taking pictures of the inside of the body (or another object) in thin 'slices,' a bit like cutting a of bread and looking at each slice one at a time. Doctors use special machines - X-rays, sound , or other methods - to build these slice-by-slice pictures without cutting the body open. You've probably heard of it already: a 'CT scan' stands for 'computed tomography.'
