A tombola is a simple prize game. You buy a ticket with a number printed on it, and if that number matches a number stuck on one of the prizes laid out on the table, you take that prize home. Tickets are usually folded up and drawn out of a rotating drum or a bucket, and often the rule is that only tickets ending in 0 or 5 win anything. The word is British and it belongs to a very particular scene: the school fair, the church fête, the village hall, the charity stall — small, cheerful, slightly amateur events where the prizes are a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates, a soft toy someone donated. Americans would generally call this a raffle, though a raffle strictly means one draw for a few big prizes while a tombola has many small ones and you find out instantly. The word can also mean the drum itself. It came from Italian, from a verb about tumbling or turning over — which is exactly what the drum does with the tickets.
