A soft, playful, childish way of saying "tiptoe" — walking on the front part of your feet, with your heels lifted off the ground, usually to be quiet or to reach something high. You will almost always hear it in phrases like "on tippytoes" or "walk on your tippytoes", said by a small child, or by an adult talking to a small child, or to a pet. It belongs to the same family of doubled-up nursery words as "tummy" for stomach and "nightie" for nightgown. Between adults it is a joke or a bit of deliberate cuteness — a grown man saying "I came in on my tippytoes" is making himself sound small on purpose, usually because he was sneaking. Note that the spelling wanders: you will see tippytoes, tippy-toes, and tippy toes, and all of them are fine, because this is a spoken word first and a written one second. The serious adult word for the same thing is just "tiptoe", and that one also works as a verb ("he tiptoed out"); "tippytoes" almost never does — people say "walk on tippytoes", not "he tippytoed".

組成tippy + toes. "Toes" are the ten small parts at the front of your feet. "Tippy" comes from "tip", meaning the very end or point of something — the tip of your nose, the tip of a pencil. So the whole thing means "the very ends of your toes", with the -y ending that English adds to make a word sound small and sweet when speaking to children.
